The aim of the research. The estimation of the effectiveness of biodegradable stent on the basis of polyhydroxyalcanoates for pyeloureteral segment plastic surgery.

Materials and methods. Stenting of rabbits’ ureter after pyeloureteral segment plastic surgery with the use of stents from polyurethane and polymeric stents from 3-hydroxybutyrate and

4- hydroxybutyrate copolymer - P(3GB/4GB). Microexamination of preparations in dynamics with the use of light microscope CarlZeissImagerA1 («CarlZeiss», Germany) (lenses 10, 20, 40) with adapted digital camera AxioCamMRc50. Morpho-metrics was carried out with the help of AxioVision and JMicroVision programs for Windows XP.

Results. According to the data of histological researches, the side of the ureter in the experimental group kept longitudinal roughness, hypertrophy of muscular coat didn’t occur, mucous coat had smooth contours, with even thickness of transitional epithelium, in contrast to the control group where productive inflammation with the sclerosis issue is fixed.

Conclusion. According to the data of histological researches, the effectiveness of stents which are worked up on the basis of polyhydroxyacetyl is corroborated and a potential possibility of the use of this material at surgical treatment of hydronephrosis is presented during in vivo experiment.
