Introduction. Benign prostatic hyperplasia and associated diseases develop significantly more often in patients with metabolic syndrome (MS) in comparison with a general male population of the same age. The pathogenesis of these conditions requires a special research.

The mineral composition of the 437 urinary stones was studied in 437 patients with urolithiasis aged from 16 to 75 years, which have been treated in the National Scientific Urological Institute. Body-mass index (BMI), blood biochemistry panel and biochemistry of 24-hour urine probe were evaluated in all patients. Quartile analysis of the data was done according to the BMI distribution. Lower quartile was represented by BMI values < 24.1 kg/m2 (n=99), upper quartile by BMI values > 33.1 kg/m2 (n=99).

Hypercalciuria is the main lithogenic metabolic disorders in patients with calcium urolithiasis. This metabolic sign could be seen most often with other metabolic risk factors of urolithiasis (hyperuricosuria, hyperoxaluria, hypocitraturia and hypomagniuria). Pathogenetic mechanisms of hypercalciuria development are manifold, which provide basis for different forms of hypercalciuria. 

In this experimental work on 28 female inbreed rats we have studied the action of the complex of anti-ischemic medications (alpha-tocopherol, trental, mexidol and diltiazem in a daily dosage 10 mg/kg, 4 mg/kg, 5 mg/kg and 2 mg/kg, correspondingly) and alpha-adrenoblocker doxazosin in a daily dosage 0.05 mg/kg with the background of the modelled infravesical obstruction via the dosed compression of the infravesical urethra.

We have investigated the crystalforming activity of the urine in 111 patients (age 23-67 years) with oxalate urolithiasis, among them – 68 patients with non-recurrent form (39 male and 29 female patients) and 43 patients with recurrent form (27 men and 16 women). Eighty-six healthy patients without urological diseases were used as control (38 male and 48 female patients) with the age 21-62 years.

We have investigated the chemical composition of 5 669 urinary stones in 2 413 male and 2 429 female patients with urolithiasis with the age of 16 to 74 years, which were treated in the Federal State Scientific Institute of Urology and City Hospital 47 in a period from 2010 to 2013. Inhabitants of Moscow accounted for 61.5% of cases, inhabitants of Moscow region – for 15.5% and patients from other regions – for 23.0% of cases. Comparative analysis was carried out with regard to the chemical composition of the stones in the preceding period (1985-2009).

This article is devoted to the description of the method of extracorporeal indirect electrochemical oxidation (EIEBO) in patients with infectious inflammatory complications and grade I endotoxicosis. The distinguishing feature of the EIEBO from the adopted intracorporeal method of oxidation is that blood is being processed using 0.06% solution of the sodium hypochlorite (SH) within the venous extracorporeal line, created using special equipment.

This article is devoted to the prognostic method, which can show, whether if the urological infection will have a lethal or favorable outcome.

The experiments were made using 20 mature male rats (line “August”) with a mass of 280-320 g. In 10 rats metabolic changes typical for metabolic syndrome (MS) were induced using high-calorie diet (adding of 20% margarine to standard diet and 20% of fructose to the water during 3 months), bilateral orchiectomy (to create androgen deficiency) and stress (immobilization stress during 1 day in the end of the observation period).

In chronic experiments with 30 male white inbreed rats we have investigated the influence of high-calorie diet (addition of 20% margarine to the formula feed and 20% fructose to the water), androgen deficiency (bilateral orchiectomy) and stress (due to immobilisation) and their combination on the biochemical markers of kidneys and liver function.
