Varicocele and male reproductive function

7953

Introduction. The mechanism of impaired spermatogenesis in case of varicocele is still unknown, and the connection between male infertility and varicocele is based only on the statistical data, which gives not always unambiguous results. Nevertheless, the presence of male infertility is a defining indication for varicocele surgical treatment. At the same time, the surgical treatment of varicocele itself can in 28% cases have a depressing effect on spermatogenesis in men.

Structural transformations of the bladder and its vascular system in the elderly and senile age patients

7037

Introduction. Changes in the lower urinary tract in elderly and senile people include a decrease in the capacity and loss of elasticity of the bladder, as well as the occurrence of detrusor hyperactivity. The causes of these morphological and functional disorders have not been fully studied to date and are described in the literature inconsistently. However, the main role in these processes, according to most authors, is assigned to circulatory hypoxia.

Experience in treating patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia and testosterone deficiency in outpatient practice

5681

Introduction. Basic testosterone concentrations are directly related to the risk of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), its growth and progression. The lower the level of testosterone, the higher the likelihood of developing prostatic hyperplasia, the higher the growth rate of the annual volume and the higher the risk of developing acute urinary retention. However, this dependence is not linear and directly depends on a combination of other individual factors, for example, the presence of concomitant prostatitis or chronic infections.
