Introduction. A high recurrence rate of urolithiasis within 3–5 years requires metaphylaxis. As part of conservative treatment for urolithiasis, according to clinical guidelines of the Russian Ministry of Health, drug therapy is necessary in addition to dietary adjustments. Citrate mixtures are among the essential drugs. However, to enhance the effectiveness of therapy and metaphylaxis for urolithiasis, herbal preparations or dietary supplements are often prescribed in addition to citrate mixtures. Therefore, new nutraceuticals are being developed, one of which is the dietary supplement «Depetra», which consists of citric acid, sodium bicarbonate, magnesium citrate, sodium citrate, and herbal extracts of Desmodium Styracifolium, horsetail, burdock root, and lingonberry leaves.
The aim of the study of herbal components of the dietary supplement «Depetra» for patients with urolithiasis.
Material and Methods. A literature search and analysis of foreign and domestic literature conducted using SCOPUS/ScienceDirect, PubMed/MEDLINE, eLIBRARY, and Google Scholar databases. The sample covered publications from 1990 to 2026. The search was carried out by keywords: the effect of the active ingredients of the dietary supplement «Depetra» on urolithiasis, Desmodium Styracifolium, horsetail, burdock root, and lingonberry leaves. A total of 167 references were found, 59 articles of which were selected based on relevance.
Results. The use of the dietary supplement «Depetra» has a scientific basis, and the constituent ingredients and their combination potentiate the clinical effect in the treatment of urolithiasis. Controlled clinical trials are need to assess the potential use of this dietary supplement in clinical practice.
Conclusion. Based on domestic and international studies, it can be conclud that the combination of citrate mixtures with herbal extracts included in the dietary supplement «Depetra» can be considered a new, promising approach to the treatment of urolithiasis.
