Data to the incidence of chronic prostatitis in different countries indicates the upwards trend of this disease with involvement of young patient contingent of men, being socially and reproductive active. The russian authors show the incidence rate from 8 to 35% in the age of 20-45 years.

Phytopreparations are now being actively used in patients with chronic prostatitis. We have studied the efficacy and safety of the Indigalplus in 25 patients with chronic prostatitis. Indigalplus is recommended for the treatment of prostatic diseases, including chronic prostatitis. It contains extract of Sabal palmetto, extract of Cruciferae, extract of green tea and the active substances, which show anti-proliferative, anti-oxidative, anti-inflammatory and anti-exudative effects. Indigalplus inhibits the growth of blood vessels accompanying the cellular proliferation.

Anti-inflammatory and anti-exudative actions are based on the anti-oxidative effect of the components, their ability to inhibit the synthesis of antiinflammatory cytokines, enzymes and transcription factors, and also as consequence of the antibacterial activity.

We have shown, that therapy with this medication positively influences the subjective and objective signs of the chronic prostatitis, ameliorates the micturition, damps the pain sensations, reduce the prostate volume, improve the sexual-ejaculatory indices and increase the life quality.
