Introduction. Currently, prostate cancer is one of the main problems in oncourology. The development of the health-care industry has increased the quality of treatment. This increases the percentage of detection of localized forms of prostate cancer. Recent advances in MR-tomography does possible detection of tumor-suspicious focuses in various anatomical areas of the prostate. The studies of recent years describe prostate resection in anterior cancer as an alternative to standard treatment.

Aim. The aim of this study was to evaluate the role of prostate resection in oncological clinical practice.

Materials and methods. 59 publications on the treatment of localized prostate cancer were analysed.

Results. The minimally invasive techniques described in the study, according to the authors, show high efficiency in preserving erectile function and urinary retention in the surgical treatment of localized prostate cancer. Given the results, such surgical interventions may be an alternative tactic between active surveillance and radical prostatectomy in patients with localized prostate cancer.

Conclusion. These techniques are alternative and involve further determination of the indications for their implementation. However, this requires more research and optimization of imaging methods for diagnosing prostate cancer.
