Extensive penile skin necrosis as a complication after operative treatment of tunica albuginea trauma (penile fracture). Clinical observation

48756

The paper describes and analyses iatrogenic penile skin necrosis in a patient, who underwent operative treatment of penile fracture. Presumably, penile skin necrosis was accounted by severe impairment of blood circulation, which is due to inadequate choice of access to the cavernous bodies.

A patient with subtotal ischemic penile skin necrosis recurrently asked for medical help. The absence of infectious and inflammatory complications accounted for the choice of the method of operative intervention, which was the urgent revision of the penis, necrectomy, Reich surgery)

Transurethral resection of the prostate for benign prostatic hyperplasia and urynary disorders

9379

According to the literature benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) frequently serves the cause of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS). In most patients, conservative therapy provides a good quality of life. In some patients progressing symptoms that require surgical treatment. Transurethral resection (TUR) is most commonly used in the treatment of BPH. However, according to studies the frequency of long-term persistence of LUTS after TUR may be more than 30%.

The role of the antioxidants in improving the parameters of ejaculate and clinical outcomes in infertile couples

Fragmentation of spermatozoa’s DNA is an important factor in the etiology of male infertility. Nevertheless, this analysis is still not used as a routine method for assessing male fertility. It has been shown by Ruvolo et al. that men with a high level of DNA fragmentation have significantly lower chances to conceive naturally or with assisted reproductive technologies such as intrauterine insemination and IVF. Ideally, DNA fragmentation should be kept to a minimum where possible. Oxidative stress is the main cause of DNA fragmentation in spermatozoa.

Varicose veins of the prostate in patients with varicocele

75398

Syndrome of pelvic venous congestion in men and of prostate particularly in contrast to women disease is poorly known. Classification of varicose pelvic veins in men does not exist. Studies in recent decades point to the close relationship of varicocele and varicose pelvic veins. In this paper we analyzed their own data on the diagnosis and treatment of venous congestion in the pelvic and prostate in patients with varicocele. We have also offered criteria of varicose veins of pelvis in men and classification of prostate varices.

Potential risks of testostetone replacement therapy

240174

Modern physicians are fairly familiar with hypogonadism. Nowadays general practitioners, therapists, endocrinologists and urologists prescribe testosterone replacement therapy (TRT). Although low testosterone level, in a combination with symptoms and signs of hypogonadism, is an indication for TRT, there are some disagreements with regard to possible complications of testosterone medication and the evaluation of benefits and risks of TRT.

Metabolic syndrome: its influence on benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH) progression, lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) and the effectiveness of BPH treatment. Literature review

8672

This review is dedicated to the analysis of recently published data related to the influence of metabolic syndrome (MS) on the development and progression of benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH) and urination disorders, which are denoted as lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS). It has been shown that patients with MS are diagnosed with BPH significantly more often than men of the same age, who do not suffer from metabolic disorders. At the same time, the volume of the prostate was larger in patients with MS, who have recently been diagnosed with BPH, in comparison with patients without MS.

Diagnostic capabilities of penile scintigraphy in patients with vasculogenic erectile dysfunction

9752

Introdiction. Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a constant or periodic inability of maintaining or achieving erection, sufficient enough for having sexual intercourse. Organic ED usually arises due to vascular disorders. Endothelial dysfunction has considerable significance in the development of ED. The impairment of blood flow, as well atherosclerosis of coronary arteries, may trigger ED. Vas-culogenic ED usually accounts for the necessity of complex, extended diagnostics with the use of not only Doppler ultrasound, but maybe other methods of radiodiagnostics.

Possibilities of combined treatment aimed at preservation of sexual function in patients after radical prostatectomy due to localized prostate cancer

10370

Radical prostatectomy (RPE) is a standard method for treatment of prostate cancer (PC). RPE is followed by a number of complications which significantly lower the quality of life. Among them are erectile dysfunction, penile shortening and curvature.

The aim of the study. Evaluation of the possibilities of combined treatment of sexual dysfunction in patients after RPE due to localized prostate cancer as a factor of improvement of patients’ quality of life.
