The aim of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness of different approaches to metaphylaxis of uric acid urolithiasis.

The actuality of this study is defined by the lack of knowledge in the area of treatment of large or staghorn stones of solitary kidney. 

In this study we have investigated 54 patients with urolithiasis, 21 female and 33 male patients with the age range of 21-74 year. Sixteen women had calcium-oxalate stones, five – mixed stones with calcium-phosphate component – carbonapathite. Twenty five male patients had calcium-oxalate stones, eight – mixed with the presence of carbonapathite.

The social significance of urolithiasis in recent years, finds a new urgency to the global changes in the health of the world population. Tendency of progressive increase in the prevalence of the urolithiasis is obvious, which requires the development of highly efficient methods of prevention and minimally invasive methods of treatment. In recent years there has been a multi-disciplinary approach to the study of the urolithiasis due to principles of evidence based medicine.

In scientific research institute of urology of Russian health care department unified recommendations schemes of urate, calcium-oxalate and calcium-phosphate calculi formation prophylaxis were developed and already used for many years. They reflect tactics of management of stated groups of patients, contain information of chemical structure of calculi removed or drawn off by itself, disorders of lithogenous compounds exchange, which were the basement of scheme development. Chemical compound of 4217 calculi was analyzed. All calculi were removed surgically, fragmented by extracorporal shock-wave lithotripsy or came out by themselves in patients with urolithiasis managed in Scientific Research Institute of Urology, Russian Healthcare Department in a period of 2005 2009 (males and females age ranged 16 77). The comparative analysis of foregoing decade (1990-2000) data on calculi chemical compound was made. It was shown that oxalate lithiasis remains predominant mineralogical type in Moscow region in a period of 2005-2009.

Introduction. Urolithiasis incidence varies greatly in different countries (1-5% in Asia, 5-9% in Europe, 13% in Nothern America, up to 20% in Saudi Arabia).
